Road Map: Road safety resources for schools

Cartoon streets and road users.

The Road Map describes road safety education in schools and outlines available resources.

It includes case studies, a guide to each stage of a young person’s development, and a directory of road safety education resources for teachers, young people and their families.

Updated September 2020.

Road safety education helps young people contribute to everyone’s safety over the long term. Students who participate in a safe system act responsibly, articulate high expectations and ask questions about how the system meets everyone’s needs.

Education is one part of Road to Zero, the New Zealand Government’s road safety strategy for 2020-30. This strategy envisions a New Zealand where no one is killed or seriously injured in road crashes.
