Driver licence NCEA credits
Students who have, or who obtain Class 1 driver licences, can be awarded unit standards which count towards NCEA and other qualifications on the NZQF framework. This came into effect on April 1 2016.
All young drivers are encouraged to learn the skills required to become safer drivers on New Zealand roads.
There are three standards which can be awarded through a ‘recognition of prior learning’ process. The three standards correspond to learner, restricted and full licences.
The learner must present an official photographic Class 1 Driver Licence to their school as part of the process to provide necessary evidence.
