Term 3, 2018 sees a new LEARNZ virtual field trip which enables student inquiry projects on the safe system approach to developing New Zealand’s transport networks.

When: starts August 14

What: Shelley Hersey, the LEARNZ field trip teacher, will be based in Waikato for Share the road.

Highlights: Visiting Putaruru College where students made award-winning Future Transport video "Hayden's Big Adventure”. The students who will join Shelley as fellow inquiry leaders.

Getting up close to parts of the Waikato Expressway, and exploring Hamilton's safe speed zones.

Seeing how an existing road was upgraded north of Te Awamutu, where local people helped come up with affordable design changes.

Talking to experts at the University of Waikato investigating the future of transport. Their driving simulator is used to test new road safety features and driver behaviour.

Enrol your class

Teachers can enrol classes now. Share the road will include live web conferences where students put questions to the experts. Also video interviews, student reading resources and interactive activities.
