How students can design and make objects that carry safety messages aimed at younger peers. Thanks to Tauranga City Council, Travel Safe team.
This activity empowers students to use their creating thinking and the key competency of relating to others to make memorable give-aways to promote safe active travel.
A key part of the learning experience is a mini-campaign when they hand these out and interact with students and their families and whānau.
The concept can be adapted to safe travel issues specific to each school community.
Big ideas: citizenship, tuakana/teina relationships, taking social action.
