Ready Steady Go!

A hands-on series of 10 active travel lessons for Year 5-6 students. Teacher handbook and student workbook included. Thanks to Auckland Transport who developed this programme in collaboration with New Zealand Schools Partnership.

Walking, cycling and scootering – students explore these ways of getting around through hands-on classroom activities that include goal setting, risk management, recording data and planning a change campaign.

The total package is a series of 10 lessons and can be run in one term. Alternatively, you can adapt parts of the series to suit your work with schools.

  • Teacher handbook and student workbook included.
  • Aligns with Health and Physical Education, Science, Mathematics and Statistics, Social Sciences and The Arts.
  • References Te Whare Tapa Whā (a model of health and wellbeing).

Note: Auckland schools receive printed poster maps and can borrow a giant jigsaw puzzle. If you work in another region, you can download substitute activity sheets to print.

All resources are hosted on the Auckland Transport website.
