Find more on Pinterest and Pond
October 9 2014. Teachers can find more interesting resources, facts and media on Pinterest and Pond.
Teachers can quickly scroll through a selection of Pinterest boards to find effective and creative ideas about safe school travel.
The NZ Transport Agency has just revamped its Pinterest collection to provide many more links to curriculum resources, data sets, road safety advertising campaigns, relevant research and more.
The agency has also launched its presence on Pond, the social media network for New Zealand teachers to share and review resources.
The agency’s reference groups of teachers and principals suggested that teachers are looking for effective ways to source resources – not just complete curriculum plans but also media artefacts, data sets and imagery which they can readily insert into lesson plans across many curriculum areas.
One reference group member described Pinterest as a favourite teaching resource: “visually stimulating, rich and exciting.”
In response, the agency has reorganised its Pinterest offering into 11 boards with well over 100 resources pinned to date. The agency education team will regularly add more content for teachers to follow and use.
The NZ Transport Agency has also created a profile on Pond. Here teachers can find links to some curriculum resources, with more items to be added soon.
Pond allows educators to share resources, review these, and add learning ideas about how they were used.
Pond is free for all school staff in New Zealand to join. It is created by crown-owned company Network for Learning.
