Mix & Mash 2013: The New Storytelling

In the Mix & Mash competition, entrants use and reuse New Zealand content and data in creative ways to make digital stories.These can incorporate images, data, words, video, and music. Three showcase events are planned for this year.

Best Safer Journeys Story award

Mix & Mash 2013 will give a prize to the school students who create the best entry with a road safety message. The NZTA Award for Best Safer Journeys Story will be announced at the end of 2013, and will go to the best qualifying work from across the three Mix & Mash 2013 Showcases.

Entry to the second showcase is now open and the deadline 9 August (theme: the present) and 8 November (theme: the future). 

The prize for the Best Safer Journeys Story is $500 in vouchers of your choice for each winning team member (up to six students) and $2000 in vouchers of your choice to the school of the winning team.

Entries can be made by individuals or groups of students in New Zealand schools from years 1-13. 

To qualify for the award, a Mix & Mash entry will remix, incorporate or mash-up open content or data to tell a powerful message about road safety. The theme is safer journeys. Please do not submit narratives that are disaster scenarios or have catastrophe outcomes. Entries must be submitted via Mix & Mash and follow the rules, terms and conditions of Mix & Mash 2013.
